How do I migrate an existing subscription to the Azure Plan?

Migration to Azure Plan is executed through a certified CSP partner via Partner Center, with assessment, consent, and cutover phases.

Answer

To migrate an existing Azure subscription to Azure Plan under CSP, work with a Microsoft-certified Cloud Solution Provider. Step 1: The partner validates your current agreement type (EA, MCA, Pay-As-You-Go, or legacy CSP) and confirms eligibility for Azure Plan in your tenant and region. Step 2: The partner creates or links an Azure Plan subscription in Partner Center and obtains written customer authorization to transfer billing ownership. Step 3: Resources are inventoried; the partner plans cutover timing to minimize downtime and confirms reserved instances, budgets, and policy assignments are preserved or recreated. Step 4: The partner initiates the transfer or subscription conversion in Partner Center, associates the customer tenant, and verifies role-based access and cost management views. Step 5: After cutover, the partner validates metering, invoices the first billing cycle under CSP, and documents governance, backup, and support handover. Direct self-service migration without a partner is not supported for CSP-billed Azure Plan relationships.
